About Cheryl Miller
Cheryl Miller was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. To escape the day-to-day grind of the city, during her childhood, her family would frequently vacation in the Irish Hills. Summer vacations often consisted of renting a cottage in the area.
In _____(year), Cheryl’s father, John Zuelke—a boating and fishing enthusiast—checked another box on his bucket list and along with his Wife/Cheryl (my amazing step-mother) purchased a cottage on Devils Lake. Before too long the summer cottage was torn down and replaced with a permanent home. By this time, Cheryl was already married with two children.
Throughout the years their family would enjoy many holidays and vacations in that former cottage. As time went on the family evolved and before too long, Cheryl moved with her husband and children to the beautiful Colorado Rockies. It did not take too much time to recognize that, while the Rockies were beautiful, they were missing one very key element, water. The entire family really missed the water and the lazy days on the lake.
For 20 years, the Millers raised their family in Colorado but continued to be drawn back to the Lake. They would return each summer to vacation with their family at the Lake and even sent their children for weeks during the summer to share the experience with their Grandparents (a vacation for their children and their parents). They always thought of moving back but with their involvement in the community and their careers in Colorado it seemed like a pipe dream.
As the children got older and moved away and their parents got older and needed more help, the Millers found themselves returning to the Lake more and more frequently. They quickly came to realize that the lazy days of summer did not simply materialize but were created as a result of hard work and planning. Those of you living on the lakes already know this, but it was a realization that the city dwellers knew little about.
The Millers soon learned the endless tasks of lake living including putting in and taking out docks and boats, pest control, window cleaning, yard work, HVAC and generator service. Not only were there these essentials activities, but there were many other separate and/or associated tasks involving the upkeep of the boats (cleaning, covering/uncovering, maintenance), wells, and the property.
As Cheryl’s parents aged, they began to have difficulty performing some of the tasks and sometimes, they simply could not perform the tasks. She also came to learn that there were many people in the area who could perform the tasks themselves but were either too busy or simply preferred not to and would rather delegate the task/service to another. Regardless of the reason, it was evident that a need existed for a company to perform the services and tasks.
Hence, Cheryl began developing the concept for Miller Property Service and in early 2023 the business was formed and is now open and ready for business.
